The Gateway Route
The SJU–STX corridor is the lifeline of St. Croix aviation. For most mainland travelers, San Juan is the midpoint between their home city and St. Croix — and multiple carriers make this connection reliable throughout the day. Whether you're connecting from a long-haul flight or making a quick inter-island trip, the ~40-minute SJU–STX hop is one of the most frequently operated routes in the USVI. Note that San Juan flights now also operate from Isla Grande Airport (SIG) for Fly the Whale — a smaller, more convenient airport than the main Luis Muñoz Marín terminal.
